Hot Traxx - July 6 2005

Hello my dear friends and fellow kindred house-music spirits. I hope the Flashbaggie finds all of you happy and well-fed after the weekend festivities. We're not a very patriotic group here at the Baggie, so we don't really acknowledge 4th of July. BUT we do acknowledge any given opportunity to sleep late, consume large quantities of beer and eat copius amounts of dessert. Call it what you want, the Flashbaggie calls it 'the good life'. And we're not referring to that lovely house classic of yester-year.

Anyway, let get straight to the chase - this week's hot traxxxxxxx...

Side note: These songs aren't necessarily newly released, just newly discovered by the Flashbaggie.

1. Moby - Raining Again (Steve Angello) - Steve Angello is back at it, with a wonderful, heavily disco-filtered remix of Moby's pop hit.

2. Poker Pets - Lovin' You - This song was actually released quite a few months ago, but it is such an amazing gem, that it hit the top of my Ipod charts once again.

3. Hardsoul - Latin Direction (Audiowhores Mix) - The audiowhores are literally the whores of house music, as this duo has been uber-prolific this year. The Flashbaggie will give a brand new papar bag to the house aficionado that can guess the classic track this mix samples.

4. Mambana feat. Isabel Fructuoso - Felicidad (Rasmus Faber Mix) - My man Rasmus, what an amazing producer. House music has been heavily inundated with latin-electro beats, and the Flashbaggie thinks this is a good thing!

5. Annie - Always Too Late - Even though Annie's album was released nearly one year ago, I keep re-discovering lovely gems tucked away on her LP. If there is any reason to visit Norway in the near future, I bet it starts with the letter 'A'.

6. The Knife Remixed by Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats (Rocketboy Remix) - The life-cycle this song has endured is amazing. It was first released a few years ago by one of Sweden's biggest pop stars, The Knife. Then, Sweden's young folk god, Jose Gonzalez came along an turned it into a hippy-dippy campfire dirge. Now, the ingenous Rocketboy has put some life and some groove back into this strange scandinavian hit.

7. Tom Neville - Married Men - Tom Neville is an undeniable genius. This song is undeniably hilarious. Check it out.

8. Fat Phaze - It's Magic - This song is so subtle and so infused with energy, it's a garaunteed floor-filler for any occasion.

9. The Creeps - Music For Freaks (Steven Bug Mix) - One of my favorite deep house tunes so far this summer. It's weird, it has an infectious groove, and mentions a man who lost his shoes several times.

10. The Chemical Brothers - Surface to Air - Aaaaaah, the Chemical Brothers have created a capitivating album, and this song is definately my favorite of the bunch.

Hot Traxx - July 1 2005

Hello my dear Flashbaggers. Let's get cracking with this weeks Hot Traxxx.

1. Teedra Moses : Complex Simplicity (Blowin East Re-Edit) - I'm pretty sure this track hasn't been released yet, but check it out! Teedra's voice is like an angel. Aaron Ross has the mix on his June 25 mix on BBC's radio 1.

2. Paradise Soul : Moscow Rendezvous - This track is out and it's a pretty wonderful deep house track. Paradise Soul does it once again.

3. Coldplay : Speed of Sound (PH 5.5) - I'm not sure who PH 5.5 is, but they've taken a pretty wrist-slitting sappy song and turned it into a disco filterd beauty. This is still unreleased, but Pete Tong has been playing it every Friday on BBC's Essential Selection.

4. Tom Novy : Your Body - This is a pretty silly song in terms of content, but it's a garaunteed floor-filler for the summer. Unreleased.

5. Deep Dish : Sacramento - HOT!!!!! Deep Dish are really blazing the charts this year. This song is unreleased, but hold on to your record mats when it finally breaks!

6. Bob Sinclar : Love Generation - The French gigalo is back with an infectious love-groove. The vocal is a bit irritating at points, but the cute whistle-back up vocals win me over each time.

7. Chemical Brothers : The Boxer - The Chemical Bros are well on their way to becoming house divos - this track is amazing.

8. Goldfrapp : Oh La La (Tiefschwarz mix) - Tiefschwarz has a knack for transforming everyday pop tunes into orchestrated dance floor epics. A sure-fire winner for the summer.

9. Ladytron : Sugar - Ladytron is back at it - finally!

10. U2 : City of Blinding Light (Paradise Soul mix) - Paradise Soul get the Flashbag of the week award - they've been mentioned twice on one post!!

Flashbaggie Loves Music Part 1

Hello world. This is the official birthing of the "Flashbaggie Loves Music Blog".
OK, let's cut those cords and get rockin'.

We have an insatiable appetite for GOOD music here at the Flashbaggie Studios in Los Angeles CA. Genre, style and tempo are all incidental characteristics - it's the QUALITY that counts. Whether it's PJ Harvey, Aretha Franklin or Dimitri From Paris - as long as it's amazing, we LOVE it!

Anyways, the Flashbaggie team is often very frustrated on those rare occasions when we take social forays into the outside world. We usually have very simple requests during these fieldtrips - 1) that we drink lots of beer, 2) that we do not encounter smelly people and 3) that we can shake our you-know-whats to some AWESOME music. Unfortunately, with the exception of point 1, we are usually disappointed.

Why is it that when people go out to clubs or bars in America, they are satisfied with hearing the same Beyonce50 CentEminem craploa that they hear every 5 minutes on the local radio stations? Why isn't there a desire for quality, exceptional and underground music in this country? Or maybe there is a demand and the mainstream moguls that be are suppressing this subversive revolution...who knows?

Anyways, we talk a lot here at Flashbaggie, so let me get to the point. The purpose of this blog is to give a week-by-week lowdown on the hottest songs that keep the fire burning under the Flashbaggie's butt. I'd also like like-minded beat-heats to post their fave tunes and artists so that we can keep each other grooving the whole week long.
